I Feel So Lonely Baby. . .
Have you ever had something really wonderful, or perhaps even something really awful happen in your life, and feel like you just don't have anyone to turn and share it with? If so, you're not really alone after all. Because a recent study reveals that 25% of Americans are in the same position.
USA Today's article "Study: 25% of Americans have no one to confide in" discusses the American Sociological Review study, which revealed that compared to two decades ago, many Americans have fewer people to confide in. And one in four Americans report they have no one at all to confide in. The decline of close contacts in Americans' lives can mean many are leading lives of increasing isolation, which, research indicates, may be associated with physical and mental illness.

That's kinda scary/depressing. I wonder how blogging figures into the equation? Is it promoting greater isolation or helping remedy the disconnect for those not inclined to venture out to seek interaction?

Wow. I'd have never guessed the number was so high. Kinda sad.

Actually, I'd have guessed the number was even higher. I hear women complaining all the time about how hard it is to make, let alone keep, friends with all the rushing around. Everyone is so busy that it's hard to make time to have/be a friend.

very sad. for me- I don't have friends I talk to everyday, because of rushing around, but if I needed them- any of them- they'd be here instantly.

Yeah, I saw that in the news. So depressing.

I wonder if this could be accountable for the blogging boom of late, because it seems as though everyone and their imaginary best friend has a journal of some sort these days.
